The Music of Neil Young by The Human Highway
The Human Highway, with David Hyams and Rose Parker, are coming back to the Quarry Amphitheatre for their fifth season! This captivating and atmospheric show features beautiful renditions of the music of Neil Young.
Covering music from the beginning of Young’s solo career in the late ’60s right through to the 21st century, the band is equally adept at capturing the essence of Young’s two primary styles: from the gentle folk and country-rock of albums like “Comes A Time”, to the electric guitar driven rock of the Crazy Horse days.
The 6 piece line up includes some of WA’s best musicians – bassist Roy Martinez, drummer Russell Wilson, Jeremy Threlfall on pedal steel/guitar and Adam Gare on fiddle.
Following Newport shows which have featured the “Comes A Time” and “Harvest” albums in their entirety and sell-out Quarry shows the last four seasons, this year’s concert will feature a mix of Young’s well known and greatest hits, including some of the earlier lineups like Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.
Opening the night is the one and only HELEN Shanahan..a sensational folk singer/songwriter from Perth, Western Australia. Helen's songs ride the joys and sorrows of love and life and draw the listener into an articulate and heartfelt world of story, melody and guitar, through her eyes. She has sung alongside Missy Higgins, Passenger and Tim Minchin. Helen is signed to Mushroom Music Publishing and has released four full length recordings, which have featured on TV shows Home & Away and Neighbours.
Helen will be signing the sings off Carole Kings landmark album Tapestry, celebrating the 50th anniversary of its release. She will be joined by the revered local musicians Steve Hensby (Steve Hensby Band) and Lee Jones.
